Hillary Clinton was born on October 26, 1947 in Chicago, IL. She attended Wellesley College where she graduated in 1969 with a bachelor of arts in political science with departmental honors. Clinton then went on to attend Yale Law School. In 1971 she met fellow Yale student Bill Clinton, and the two began dating. She graduated from Yale in 1973 with a Juris Doctor degree. Post graduation, Hillary Clinton worked in multiple areas as an advocate for children. She had a bright future in Washington at the time, but decided to move to Arkansas with Bill Clinton instead. There, she taught criminal law classes at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. Clinton had doubted marriage and had rejected proposals from Bill multiple times before finally accepting. The two were married in 1975, and have one daughter. Clinton became the first lady of the United States when her husband became President in 1993. She held this role until 2001, and was very involved in public policy. Clinton ran for Senate and won in 2001. She was re-elected in 2006, and in early 2007 she announced her campaign for presidency, running against Obama. The two campaigns were very tight during the race, however Obama eventually received the number of delegates needed to become the official democratic nominee, while Hillary lagged behind. She then dropped out of the race and endorsed Obama. In 2009, Clinton left the Senate to become the U.S. Secretary of State under the Obama administration. |
